Nutrition Services

Helping you achieve your health goals!

We offer one on one nutrition counseling with our RD, Ronika Kim. Specialties include (but services are not limited to):

  • Child taekwondo athlete nutrition,
  • Weight management,
  • Picky eating,
  • Pregnancy and postpartum nutrition

How nutrition counseling can help your child: Proper nutrition and hydration can help prevent injuries, fuel optimum performance, help with focus, and ensure that each child has enough fuel to train AND grow at at healthy rate. Being a child athlete is not easy! There are many factors that affect how much and what kinds of foods each child needs: how old they are, what stage of development they are in, how much they weigh and how tall they are and what the training day looks like. What students eat before and after training, as well as timing are key elements to consider. Their needs differ day by day. It can be a challenge for parents to keep up with the changes and provide the right nutrition each day. Working with Ronika will provide support in this area, helping to make it as easy as possible to provide the right foods and amounts each day.

Services will be tailored to each individual adult or child’s needs and goals. Some service options include:

  • For the athlete:
    • Calculation of individual calorie, protein, carbohydrate and fat needs – including separate numbers for different training levels. For example, this is what is needed on an off day, on a 1 hour training day, during training camp, on competition day, etc.
    • Specific food examples for how to get to the set calorie, protein, carb and fat needs. Example snack ideas for after practice, for instance.
    • Information on timing of when to eat before and after practice.
    • Guidance on hydration
  • For everyone:
    • Support for weight management based on your goals
    • Availability to answer simple questions by email
    • Monitoring growth status to ensure your child is getting enough nutrients
    • Problem solving with any picky eating, poor food choices/habits
    • Guidance on shopping and meal planning
    • Science based recommendations
    • All advice tailored to your child, including consideration of any health concerns or medical conditions
